OCD Specialists in Tampa, Florida — About The OCD Therapists

Recovery is possible. That belief is the foundation of everything we do at The OCD Therapists, a specialty mental health practice in Tampa, Florida dedicated to helping teens and adults break free from OCD and anxiety disorders.

Founded by Someone Who Has Lived It

The OCD Therapists was founded by Lee Solomon, an OCD specialist and licensed therapist whose path into mental health began with his own battle with OCD. Like so many people who walk through our doors, Lee spent years trapped in obsessions, compulsions, and the relentless pursuit of certainty he could never quite reach.

He researched. He analyzed. He sought reassurance, ruminated for hours, replayed memories, avoided everything that scared him, and tried to think his way out of a disorder that thrives on thinking too much. The harder he fought fear, the stronger fear became.

Nothing worked until he discovered Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

ERP did not promise to eliminate anxiety or silence unwanted thoughts. What it offered was something more honest, and ultimately more powerful: a way to change his response to fear. That shift changed the course of his life.

Experience Rooted in Both Research and Recovery

Driven by a mission to understand recovery at the deepest level possible, Lee, the OCD therapist, pursued formal training in psychology and clinical mental health. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and is currently completing his doctorate in psychology.

Over the past eight years as a therapist, with more than six years specializing in OCD treatment, Lee has helped individuals from across the country and around the world overcome OCD using ERP. What began as a personal search for answers has become a lifelong professional mission.

Specialized OCD Treatment for Teens and Adults

At The OCD Therapists, we specialize in treating OCD and anxiety disorders in teens and adults, in person in Tampa, Florida, and via telehealth for clients throughout Florida and beyond.

We work with individuals living with:

  • Relationship OCD (ROCD)
  • Harm OCD
  • Contamination OCD
  • Sexual Orientation OCD (SO OCD)
  • Pedophilia OCD (POCD)
  • Health OCD
  • Religious OCD (Scrupulosity)
  • Existential OCD
  • Mental compulsions
  • Other anxiety and obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders

While the themes of OCD may differ from person to person, the underlying pattern is remarkably consistent. Fear creates compulsions. Compulsions teach the brain that fear is important. Recovery begins when that lesson is no longer reinforced.

Our Approach to OCD Recovery

One of the most empowering realizations a person with OCD can have is this: you do not need to control every thought or feeling that enters your mind. In fact, you cannot. As human beings, we cannot always choose what we think or what we feel, but we can choose what we do.

And when behavior changes, lives change.

Our goal at The OCD Therapists is not to help people become fearless. Our goal is to help people become free, free to live fully, act intentionally, and stop letting OCD decide what their life looks like.

Recovery does not begin when fear disappears. Recovery begins when we stop running from it.
